November Newsletter & CSMA Journal Distribution

Wednesday 1st November

CSM Association Members receive three newsletters a year, as well as the Journal once a year.  The newsletter can be received by post or email and contains news and events surrounding CSM and the Association, as well as reunion details, personal announcements etc.  If you would like to receive the CSMA Newsletter & Journal, join the Association for just 20.00 a year.  Visit the homepage or email

Lectures - Aspects of Cornish Mining

Thursday 2nd November

A course of six lectures commencing Thursday 2nd November through to 7th December. 

The course will look at various aspects of Cornish mining, including social, technical and economic impact. Students will also be introduced to a range of topic areas including emigration; mining engineering; the social life of miners and their families, the current situation in mining heritage and possible re-opening of South Croft Mine

The 16th Annual Victor Phillips Memorial Lecture - Mining Industry...What Mining Industry?

Tuesday 7th November

Paul Bradley, the Head of the Energy Division, will be delivering a talk entitled "Mining Industry...What Mining Industry?"

In his talk, he will discuss current and future mining developments to demonstrate the continuing prosperity and importance of this vital industry within the UK.

This talk will commence at 6:00pm, and will be held in the Daphne Du Maurier Building, Theatres A&B, Penryn Campus, TR10 9EZ 

Cornwall Mining Sundowner

Thursday 23rd November

Every month a gathering takes place in Cornwall for anyone in the Mining, Minerals, Renewables and associated industries.  This usually takes place on the third Thursday of each month, with this month's Cornwall Sundowner taking place on Thursday 16th November from 5.45pm onwards at The Star Inn, St Just. Please come along and catch up with people in the local Mining and associated industries. The more the merrier!

Saturday 25th November

Following the great success and popularity of the 2014 25th CSMA Anniversary Dinner, we have organised another event at The Headland Hotel, Newquay. The Dinner Dance will be taking place on Saturday 25th November and is open to full CSM Association members (staff and graduates) and their plus ones ONLY. This is be a black tie event and will consist of a dinner followed by music and dance. The hotel has compiled concessionary room and weekend break rates and, if demand is high enough, the CSMA will also organise a daytime visit to a place of interest (such as KEM). TICKET SALES ARE NOW CLOSED FOR THIS EVENT.
